internos que perduran en la memoria a través del paso del tiempo. Aníbal Vallejo (Medellín, 1975, egresado de Artes Plásticas en la Universidad de Antioquia) construye una escena al interior de este edificio icónico, regresando la mirada a los cerros orientales de Bogotá con otros perfiles montañosos, con campos y ríos coloridos que parecen emerger de un sueño. Territorios imaginados es una zambullida meditativa al horizonte introspectivo del artista, quien materializa la importancia del paisaje como huella y hacerse ésta visible en los distintos soportes artísticos que trabaja. Vallejo, incuestionablemente pintor, lleva esta técnica al plano expandido, sacando el lienzo del bastidor, volviéndolo telón, pintando sobre materiales como cuerdas o hierro y acercando la pintura a la vocación textil de su superficie al intervenir ésta con bordado experimental. El artista parte de lugares reales, ríos que han sido importantes a lo largo de su vida, montañas que se repiten como en una visión en distintos momentos del día. Estos lugares, como el Río Cartama (Antioquia), toman distancia de una representación testimonial. Vallejo somete la geografía a lo onírico y abstracto de la memoria para representar la cambiable verdad de haberla sentido, de llevarla en el recuerdo. Estos escenarios son parte del bagaje y del devenir temporal. Es este uno de los temas principales de la exposición: el constante cambio de la realidad, la fugacidad de la vida, metafóricamente representados en el paisaje como lugar de práctica, juego y reflexión. El campo, los riscos, la vegetación, el agua, van formando sedimentos en nuestra memoria, dejando su impronta cada vez que los contemplamos; desde niños somos testigos de esa montaña, ese río u horizonte de mar; la luz que acompaña nuestro ir y venir por ese telón de fondo o el sentarse a contemplar, primero sin saber y luego ya, sabiendo. De adultos esos estratos sedimentados toman color, olor y se vuelven parte de esa ficción que creamos alrededor de lo que pensamos recordar. Para Vallejo la pintura es la materia de la que están hechos los recuerdos y la forma de los mismos adoptan distintos formatos; el artista termina por construir un mundo en el que podemos entrar, caminar, contemplar y acudir a la estela de los paisajes que se han ido asentando a lo largo de la vida. contemplation and the sensorial experience of the environment, inviting viewers to reconsider their relationship with what we call landscape. It is not a literal representation of nature, but rather an exercise in inner gaze—an attempt to capture the rhythms, atmospheres, and fragments that shape the memory and experience of place. At the heart of the exhibition lies a large hanging canvas, painted on both sides and extending from floor to ceiling. Installed without a stretcher, it merges with the architecture of the exhibition space. Suspended and unbound, its vertical scale transforms it into an immersive and striking element, evoking notions of tapestry and craftsmanship through the integration of painting and stitched threads. As visitors move around it, they encounter a pictorial object that can be surrounded and inhabited, where the void, the center, and the height of the room become as significant as the painted surface itself. In contrast, the smaller works function as suspended fragments—intimate visions that capture fleeting moments, details, or sensations. Displayed in varying configurations, these paintings expand the notion of landscape, suggesting that it is not a closed totality but a weave of parts, perceptions, and emotions. El Retiro, Antioquia, serves as the point of departure for this reflection. Its mountains, atmospheres, and silences seep into the works—not as documentary record, but as evocation of a territory that is both thought and felt. In this way, Pensar el paisaje unfolds as a journey oscillating between the monumental and the intimate, the exterior and the interior, inviting slow contemplation and the opening of new ways of de plata &nbsp; cuya linfa purísima retrata &nbsp; el azul de los cielos esplendente… &nbsp; Aníbal Vallejo Álvarez (fragmento del poema Tierra caliente) El río Cartama, testigo del tiempo y de la vida en el suroeste antioqueño, serpentea en la memoria de quienes han recorrido sus orillas y observado su raudal de plata que refleja el azul de los cielos. En esta exposición, Aníbal Vallejo nos invita a un viaje íntimo y personal que recrea paisajes que han marcado su infancia, su historia familiar y su proceso creativo. La obra central de esta exposición, un políptico asimétrico de gran formato, se despliega en doce paneles de diversos tamaños que componen una narrativa visual de pensamientos acumulados, observaciones prolongadas y recuerdos transformados en pintura. Las pinceladas, las líneas y las texturas son una reflexión en movimiento, una búsqueda constante de armonía. El paisaje observado desde la finca familiar La Cascada, en la vereda La Mesa del municipio de Támesis, emerge en cada fragmento, en cada trazo. El políptico es un rompecabezas visual y emocional que invita a reconstruir las sensaciones que el artista ha acumulado durante años. La Cascada: vista del Cartama desde la vereda La Mesa es un homenaje al suroeste antioqueño, una región impregnada de paisajes, colores, olores y sonidos que evocan las profundidades de la infancia del artista. Las montañas, los amaneceres y atardeceres que cubrieron la casa de sus abuelos de luz y neblina cobran vida en esta obra. El río Cartama, silencioso y majestuoso, aparece no solo como un elemento físico, sino como un símbolo de conexión entre generaciones y territorios: separa y une los municipios de la región. Vallejo nos invita a compartir su memoria, a ver a través de sus ojos y a descubrir cómo esos paisajes renacen y adquieren una forma nueva. Como lo expresa su abuelo en el poema Tierra caliente, el río no solo arrastra agua, sino recuerdos, vivencias y el alma misma de dicha tierra. Esta muestra también es la oportunidad para que el público conozca el proceso creativo de Vallejo, un viaje de transformación que culmina en la obra principal. Las piezas adicionales, de distintos formatos, son variaciones y reflexiones que documentan este proceso, para mostrar cómo la obra se descompone y recompone a través de bocetos y estudios que forman parte de un todo. Un ejemplo de ello es la obra Las horas, compuesta por cinco pinturas sucesivas de pequeño formato que evocan la serie de pinturas de Claude Monet sobre el río Támesis, en Londres, a finales del siglo XIX. Al igual que el pintor francés, Vallejo nos deja ver un único punto de vista en diferentes tonalidades, capturando de manera inevitable el paso del tiempo. Complementa la muestra Farallón, una escultura en cuerda de algodón intervenida con trazos de pintura acrílica. Esta pieza, concebida como un dibujo espacial, sugiere sutilmente los contornos de las montañas circundantes y mantiene el lenguaje del bordado recurrente en la obra de Vallejo. La exposición no es solo una mirada al pasado; es un encuentro con la esencia de lo que significa pintar para Vallejo: un acto de pensamiento continuo, una búsqueda de equilibrio que, como el río, Limbo is a state of suspension, an in-between space where the figure dissolves, and meaning remains in constant transformation. In this series, the work unfolds within an ambiguous territory, exploring the limits between presence and absence, between recognizable form and its dissolution into abstraction. The human figure, a recurring element in artistic tradition, is brought here to a breaking point: disintegrated, reconfigured, suspended at a threshold where it ceases to be a subject and becomes an echo of itself. In these new pieces, limbo is both a concept and a pictorial process. The relationship between figure and background becomes a dialectic of disappearance and emergence, where the image is not absolutely defined but fluctuates within the pictorial space like a vestige in transformation. The compositions oscillate between presence and evanescence, immersing the viewer in a visual experience that challenges the stability of form and compels them to reconstruct their perception of the image. Historically, the concept of limbo has shifted between various interpretations: in religious tradition, it has been a place of waiting and exclusion, a space inhabited by souls unable to reach either punishment or redemption. In philosophy, it is associated with existential uncertainty, suspended time, and the anguish of transition. In psychology, it manifests as an emotional state of stagnation, mourning, or the redefinition of identity. In each of these realms, limbo represents a border condition, a zone of passage that offers no definitive answers but rather open questions about being and its relationship to its surroundings. Color, a fundamental narrative element, acts as a rarefied atmosphere that reinforces the sensation of suspension. Tonal transitions and veiled contrasts evoke the altered perception of time in limbo: a dilated present, a space of waiting where the figure appears trapped at its own threshold. In this sense, Limbo aligns with artistic and literary traditions that depict this state as a geography of uncertainty, a territory where identity fades, and the viewer is invited to complete the image through their own subjectivity. Beyond its conceptual exploration, the work confronts us with a profoundly human sensation: being suspended in a state of transformation, at the edge of the known and the yet-to-be-revealed. In limbo, painting becomes a space of transit and possibility, where uncertainty is not merely a void but a form of existence in itself. The Chair and the Absent Body A central piece in the Limbo exhibition, this work materializes the tension between presence and dissolution that runs throughout the series. Resting on an old study chair—an object laden with memory and contemplation—the suggestion of a body emerges, a fragmented figure oscillating between construction and collapse. As in his paintings, Vallejo blurs the boundaries between form and void, allowing the figure to merge with the space that sustains it. This piece is embedded in an exploration of the unfinished and the humility of materials. In the spirit of Arte Povera, Vallejo leaves the materials exposed, revealing their structure: bare wires, expanded foam, loose threads. These materials, which frequently appear in his paintings, function here as remnants of an ongoing process. The artist’s intervention does not seek to erase the traces of its making but rather to amplify them, allowing each element to retain its own voice. Thus, the piece is not merely a representation but also a record of a transitional state. In Limbo, the figure is never absolutely defined; instead, it hovers on the threshold of its own disappearance. Here, chair and body become a single entity, an assemblage where the space of contemplation transforms into the body of the artwork. The piece captures that moment of suspension, inviting the viewer to complete it through their own perception of transition, absence, and identity in flux. <img width="18267" height="10925" a particular aim that is immanent within it. — Hegel. The exhibition focuses on the abstract exploration of the fundamentals of painting: color, form, composition, gesture, and surface. Through a combination of intuition and reflection, the works investigate the relationship between surface and the application of paint. Layers, stains, and glazes suggest a pictorial space that is not confined solely to the canvas, but, when extended onto the walls, proposes an expansion of it. Shapes, tones, and thread drawings emerge across the pieces, establishing an internal logic and an ongoing dialogue in which the viewer takes part.
